- Can tailor the summary to a role or purpose when the prompt defines what 'important' means.
- Can identify dates, obligations, exceptions, affected groups, actions and risks when explicitly asked.
Limitations
- A summary is selective and can omit a caveat, exception or minority point that matters to the AO.
- If the prompt does not explain the user's purpose, Copilot must infer which details deserve emphasis.
- A polished summary is not evidence that the source has been covered completely.
- For regulatory interpretation, the summary should help navigate the source rather than replace reading the relevant original sections.
Prerequisites
- Use the current authoritative source version.
- Tell Copilot the role/purpose and which kinds of detail must not be omitted.
- Verify important dates, obligations, exceptions and source references before relying on the summary.
Workarounds
Use a two-pass method: first extract all sections containing obligations, dates, exceptions, changes, risks and dependencies; then summarise from that coverage map.

Watch-outs for Start here
- Do not assume 'I have Copilot' means you have every Microsoft 365 Copilot feature.
- You can already do useful low-risk work here, including drafting, summarising, public research and simple automation.
- Some features can be visible but still depend on admin enablement, configuration, permissions or billing.
- Staff still need clear guidance on what not to upload, especially live assessment content, candidate data, safeguarding information, HR, malpractice, appeals and complaints.
