What it can do
- Explains the difference between basic Copilot Chat access and wider Microsoft 365 Copilot capabilities.
- Helps users identify what can be done immediately with Chat and what requires extra licensing or admin setup.
- Explains that seeing a feature does not necessarily mean it is enabled or configured.
Limitations
- Microsoft feature names, rollout and licensing can change.
- Exact availability can vary by tenant, region and admin policy.
Workarounds
If a capability is unavailable, use Copilot Chat, approved public sources or standard Microsoft 365 tools while your manager or admin checks entitlement and configuration.
No premium licensing needed. External dependency: Tenant configuration.
Notes
Supports the new user journey: start from what the person can see rather than internal tier labels.
Watch-outs for Start here
- Do not assume 'I have Copilot' means you have every Microsoft 365 Copilot feature.
- You can already do useful low-risk work here, including drafting, summarising, public research and simple automation.
- Some features can be visible but still depend on admin enablement, configuration, permissions or billing.
- Staff still need clear guidance on what not to upload, especially live assessment content, candidate data, safeguarding information, HR, malpractice, appeals and complaints.
